DAY 1: STREET FAIR
(SATURDAY 2ND MAY)

On Saturday, Trentham comes alive with our famous street fair held in the heart of town.

Explore four vibrant precincts packed with delicious spud-inspired food, fresh regional produce and local artisan makers, while live music and roaming entertainment set the soundtrack for the day.

With hands-on activities, games and family-friendly fun for kids and adults alike, Saturday is all about big energy, great flavours and classic Spudfest atmosphere.

DAY 2: DISCOVERY DAY
(SUNDAY 3RD MAY)

Sunday is dedicated to the discovery of food, produce, and stories of our region.

Spend the day in Trentham Town, dance to music in Town Square, wander the streets on historical tours, visit our Traders or take part in Spudfeast.

Explore our region through a guided farm tour, take part in The Great Spud Scavenger Hunt or simply spend the day eating your way through spudtastic dishes across venues across the region.

Golden, crispy, buttery, smashed, roasted, fried and reinvented. Spudfest is where the humble potato really shows off. Across two delicious days, Trentham turns into one big open-air kitchen, serving up the flavours of the region from paddock to plate.

From local growers and producers to chefs, makers and food trucks who know their way around a spud, this is your chance to taste the whole region one bite at a time. Come hungry, stay curious, and follow the smell of potatoes done very, very right.

It all starts with a potato 🥔💛

Thanks to Trentham’s rich red volcanic soil, spuds have been growing here since the 1860s – shaping the landscape, the livelihoods and the legends.

For generations, local families dug, bagged and hauled late-season potatoes by hand, with seasonal workers living in iconic spud huts scattered across the farms. At its peak, Trentham was one of Victoria’s biggest late-potato producers and while farming has evolved, the love for spuds hasn’t.

Today, growers continue to cultivate a wide range of varieties, from classics to heirlooms, all celebrated in the most Trentham way possible: The Great Trentham Spudfest 🥔🎉

Meet Luke Wicker, local potato grower and proud Spudfest stallholder 🥔🌱

Just outside Trentham, Luke grows a glorious range of spuds including Kipfler, Nicola, Dutch Cream, Pontiac, Sebago, King Edward and Kennebec. His personal favourite? Pontiacs – his grandmother’s go-to for a classic Sunday roast (and honestly, same 😋).

Luke comes from a long line of Trentham potato farmers. His dad, George still runs the neighbouring family farm, land that’s been in the Wicker family since 1876. George is proud as punch to be part of the region’s rich potato history and the tight-knit farming community that helped shape it.

While there are fewer farms in the region today, families like Luke’s continue to carry Trentham’s spud legacy forward and we’re grateful to have them as part of our iconic annual festival 🥔💛

You’ll find Luke’s spectacular spuds at The Railway Precinct at the Street Fair (Saturday 2 May), or grab a bag from his much-loved roadside stall on Daylesford–Trentham Road while you’re out enjoying the Sunday Farm Gate Trail.

🥔 Get ready to celebrate the heart of our region! 🌾🎉

The Great Trentham Spudfest brings together local people, fresh produce and the rich agricultural roots of our region to celebrate our proud potato-growing tradition. A weekend of spuds, stories and small-town fun.

The festival has been around in some shape or form since 2008. Held during harvest season, Spudfest is always on the first weekend of May. It is our annual excuse to eat as many potatoes as humanly possible (not that we ever need one) - from crispy, creamy, cheesy creations to classic country favourites.

🏆 Big news for our Tiny Town! 🏆

We’re totally chuffed (and a little bit chipped) to announce that Trentham has been crowned the 2025 Victoria Top Tourism Town in the Tiny Tourism Town category!

This little town of ours with its misty mornings, forest trails, historical ties, amazing produce AND an annual festival celebrating the humble spud…has always been something special. Now the rest of the state thinks so too!

🥔 Happy International Day of the Potato! 🥔

Today, we’re celebrating the humble spud in all its golden glory – crunchy, creamy, mashed or baked! It’s only the second year the world is officially celebrating our favourite tuber… but here in Trentham, we’ve been honouring the mighty potato for years and years.

A huge shoutout to the Trentham Spud Farming Legends who don’t just grow potatoes, they grow perfection. Not only are their spuds delicious, but let’s face it… they’re downright photogenic too.
